This guide describes how to use tags in Analyze to document and explain salary differences between employees.
Tags
Tags are used to specify objective reasons behind salary differences. By tagging an employee, you document the factors that underlie the individual's salary level.
Tags are divided into two categories:
External factors – factors related to the market or the recruitment situation
Individual factors – factors specific to the individual employee or the role
External factors
External factors are those that influence salary decisions from outside the organisation, such as market pay rates and labour market conditions.
Alternative labour market
Used when salary is influenced by the need to offer a competitive salary in order to attract and retain talent.
Market salary when recruiting
Used when salary is influenced by the need for a specific skill set at the time of recruitment.
Previous employment
Used when an employee has retained their salary despite being moved to a role with a lower salary level.
Individual factors
Individual factors are those that are specific to the employee or the role, such as skills, experience and performance.
Experience
Used when the employee has relevant experience in the field that is considered valuable to the organisation.
Competence
Used when the employee possesses a competence that provides a decisive advantage in performing the role.
Performance
Used when pay is justified by the quality of work performed in the role, as assessed through a performance evaluation.
